Beautifully handcrafted from NZ grown English Elm, this end-grain chopping board combines old-world charm with everyday functionality. Each board is a testament to the natural warmth and grain character that make Elm such a beloved timber among craftsmen and cooks alike.

The end-grain construction enhances durability while offering a forgiving surface that’s gentle on knife edges. A wide juice groove surrounds the outer edge, keeping your benchtop clean by catching liquids during food preparation or carving.

Measuring 39 x 29 x 5 cm, this board delivers a versatile size suited to both daily use and elegant presentation. It’s mounted on non-slip rubber feet for stability and pre-finished with our food-safe beeswax and mineral oil conditioner, so it’s ready for use straight away.

(Ulmus)

English Elm is known for its distinctive swirling grain patterns and rich, honey-brown tones that deepen beautifully with age.

Once favoured for fine furniture, coachbuilding, and traditional joinery, it remains a timeless hardwood that balances strength, resilience, and aesthetic appeal.

Care instructions

Cleaning:

  • Do not put your board in the dishwasher, or soak in water for long periods of time.
  • Clean your board with a soft cloth or brush and warm soapy water.
  • Dry thoroughly with a towel.
  • Leave your board standing upright to allow for all-round air drying.

Storage:

  • Store your board upright when possible to prevent warping.
  • Avoid storing your board lying flat, particularly on a wet surface.  
  • Avoid leaving the board in direct sunlight

To help remove stains and odours

  • Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of salt and baking soda over the desired area and rub the board using a sliced half of a lemon. Rinse well with hot water.
